This book is a must have for any coach who is bored with the mainstream thinking on speed training. This book is the most exhaustive resource imaginable on every aspect of sprinting and sprint related training. It certainly caters towards the coach who is wishing to be defined by intellect, and you need to take some time reading it, but if you do, you will certainly be rewarded. The lower star reviews are likely from those looking for something a little more readily practical, this is a book that is helpful when you've already been there/done that.
Excellent read to learn the "whys" of training. While highly technical and often requiring a dictionary to grapple with doctorate level terminology, the insights I have already gained have made the process worthwhile. This is not a book that will provide a training log that you can copy, rather, it breaks down the mechanical and physiological elements that impact running.
As a Track & Field coach the knowledge I gained from reading this is priceless! Recommend to anyone interested in training and coaching athletes.
Excellent book. Thorough running resource.
Great book with lots of helpful information!
Franz Bosch goes into amazing detail as to the why's and how's of running. He does make some assumptions that are not necessarily built upon solid research but it does provide the coach with food for thought at least!
This is a very good read. I learned a lot. However, it is quite complicated. It is not for beginners, if you like calculus and speed training. You will like this book. I must say it is still a good read. I just prefer a more simple approach.
A very complete book on this subject. Have had great use of it for my own update of the book Strength Speed.
